about

“What Separates Us” is ultimately a round-trip journey within; a story told in 7 parts. It will sweep you into a place of bohemian bliss, tethered by alternative soundscapes that are rooted in hip-hop. As the EP progresses, it’ll transport you to smoother pastures laden with jazz and soul influence. The return trip once again embraces bohemian ideals that are ripe with harmony and rich brass. The journey finally culminates with a thought-provoking intensity that can be best described as authentically raw.

Firstly I would like to convey my immense gratitude to Paul Paresa. Without his guidance, musical genius and vision this album would not be what it is. I am blessed to have such a musical superhero/Co producer on my team, who was willing to help my vision become reality.
I also want to thank my family and friends for all of their support and belief in what I do as a musician and artist. I also want to thank Charlie Kimmel for being the first producer to work with me and has continued to be a good friend and ally throughout all of my musical ventures.
I would like to acknowledge Matt Brewster for his friendship, his love, support and musical influence in the creation of this album and beyond. I want to thank my sister Laryssa Birdseye for her friendship and for bringing her beautiful and powerful voice to this record. I also want to thank Simon Baum and Cat Frink for all of their patience and guidance with the visual aspects of this creation. From Simon’s substantial work with videography and musical talent on Pieces of Me. To Cats graphic design work on the single art, album cover and layout. Thank you both for being patient with my picky self. I also want to thank Billy Mickelson and Chibia Ulinwa for their spectacular energy and wonderful talent. I also want to thank the entire DTW crew for agreeing to take part in the performing, recording and production of this fantastic album. I especially want to thank Justin Schepige for organizing his team, helping compose horn parts, writing charts, creating an awesome space to record in and for being such a fantastic human being.
